I retired from a 35-year career as a board-certified emergency physician in a busy trauma center. It is there that I first became interested in why some patients go on to develop PTSD after an injury and others do not. This inquiry led to a series of in-depth post-graduate trainings to understand the immediate and long-term effects of trauma on the body and mind, and the most effective methods for treatment.   

I now have a private practice in Marin County, California specializing in trauma-focused psychotherapy for persons with psychological, emotional and physical symptoms related to the effects of childhood or adult traumatic events.

I have had the great opportunity to learn directly from leaders in the field of trauma therapy such as  Richard Schwartz, Bessel Van der Kolk, Peter Levine, Janina Fisher, and Pat Ogden.

I have also assisted in training programs for the Internal Family System Institute, Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, teaching trauma treatment skills to other psychotherapists.
